Minimum Age
The minimum age to volunteer is 18. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an adult volunteer with them.
Parking
Parking is available in the Episcopal Diocese / Christ Church Cathedral garage above our facility. The entrance is at 559 San Jacinto in between Texas and Prairie.
Bring your parking ticket with you and staff will validate.
Where To Go

After you park, take the stairs/elevators closest to San Jacinto Street (the only stairwell with an elevator).

Go to the ground level and exit the stairwell to the left.

Follow the walkway through the garden.

There will be a sign hanging that will point you to the Volunteer Entrance of The Beacon. The volunteer entrance faces Texas Avenue and is adjacent to the Episcopal Dioceses Office.

Please refrain from using the Prairie Street entrance as it is reserved for clients. If you reach the entrance and the door is locked, please press the doorbell on the right side of the entrance. This will notify one of the Beacon staff members to come and let you in.
Attire and Belongings
Modest attire is best with pants or jeans. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory.

We encourage you to leave any personal items at home or locked in the trunk, out of sight, in your vehicle.
Time Commitment
You can volunteer with us just once or however often you prefer. We do request that you schedule yourself for the shifts that you want and remove yourself from the schedule if you are not able to come in and serve. This helps us anticipate our volunteer needs each day.
